HOLIDAY REFLECTION

When the festivites are done
and the day is through.
I can sit down quiet
and be with all of you.

Writing thoughts,
of those days gone by.
My spirit soars higher,
much higher than the sky.

The holidays are like that,
there's so much to do.
Getting things done,
can certainly take a crew.

Shopping, cooking
and visiting a lot.
Time is of the essence,
hmmmm... that eggnog hit the spot.

But along with all
the bother and fuss.
There's laughter and singing
and joy amongst us.

Giving a gift
that someone actually loves.
Warms the heart,
like two turtle doves.

Little things
are just so important, you see.
Sharing and caring,
that's the way to be.

And now it's time,
to take a rest.
Exhaustion sets in,
it can happen to the best.

Until next year,
when the rush begins.
And the feeling
is that of needles and pins.

I'll think happy thoughts,
of that Xmas gone by.
As I wave to Santa,
way up in the sky.

Merry Xmas to all,
it was a great day at that.
If I didn't eat so much,
I wouldn't be as fat!

Just another poem by Lenore

I humbly thank you, Sandy!!!  I really do!!!
I wrote this one, still in my coat after we got home, yesterday, following Xmas dinner with the family.  This poem...well....it's just a little something...a very little something..  I decided to post it, to sort of, wrap up the holidays....Ahhhh....but we still have some time to enjoy, the after Xmas events, left over food and bringing in the New Year...ha ha ha....I feel like an OOmpa Loompa, right now....goodies, goodies, and more goodies everywhere....ha ha ha

Again, thank you for your acknowledgment...
Thank you so much!!!

Happy Day After Christmas Lenore and Sandy!  You've captured the holiday aftermath perfectly.  I like your poem.  I think we need a special category...a special folder for your creations....maybe Lenore's Literary Library?

What are your plans for the rest of the week?  Have you seen National Treasure yet?  I enjoyed it...I think Sweeny Todd is next on my to-do list...

Dan and I went to a movie yesterday as is our Christmas Day tradition. We were torn between Sweeney Todd and Charlie Wilson's War, which is what we ended up choosing.

We both enjoyed it immensely. It was very entertaining as well as educational.

Happy Day after Christmas to you, too, Lisa.....Oh, my gosh....I humbly thank you, also....Those poems are just a few, fun diddilies that just sort of came to me....Again, I appreciate, that you liked them.....

YES, we had the exact same idea, Lisa and Sandy!!!  We wanted to go to the movies, after our family dinner....Nicolas Cage and Johnny Depp are two of my guys, you know....The other is Patrick Swayze, darling...(you know that, though)...AND my comedy guy...Martin Short....Sooooo......YES...we want to see both movies...BUT we wanted to see the opening day of, "Sweeney Todd."  Definitely, this week, though...DEFINITELY.....

You know....going to the movies, junk food during the flick and a greasy cheeseburger, shake and fries afterwards is pretty much a good night out for me...ha ha ha.....

Sandy and Lenore,  we usually catch a movie the evening of Christmas day too.  This year it was Christmas Eve and the theatre was virtually empty.  Another Christmas tradition we started last year is Holiday Sushi Night.  This year we were scheduled to see A Hipmas Carol. (Two local actors took Dicken's Christmas Carol and turned it into beat poetry and added a blues guitar to the background. It was actually pretty amusing!)  We then checked out Nan's sushi on Lincoln Ave. We started this Sushi/night-on-the-town tradition in Toronto last year as a fluke and it has taken off.

I have yet to catch a movie since going to that "Romance and Cigarette's" at the Wilmette Theater a couple of weeks ago. After having to cut the 10 day vacation around the south short, due to Fred's lengthy illness, I thought he might be up for a 5:00 viewing of "Charlie Wilson's War" this evening, but there is still no signs of much movement coming from his room. Might try for tomorrow.

This will definitely go in to my books as one of the most memorable holidays- - - perhaps not for the best, however!

Hoping that the New Year will start off better than this one has ended!

Many great wishes for 2008 to all of you!

  Hi Cyndee,

Welcome back!!! Hope Fred is feeling better.  Lenore is right... you still have time to have some fun.  Have you guys ever attended the Evanston First Night Celebration?  I've never been but wondered how it is.  My favorite Flamenco group is actually playing this year...thinking about going....

Hey Lenore,  it's mighty nippy out there missy.  You best put a sleeper on over that there diaper!!!

Lisa,

In all of the years that I have lived on the North Shore - - the past 8 of them in Evanston, I am embarrassed to say that I have never attended their First Night celebration - - either, always had a plan or it was too cold for me to be wandering around town from one venue to the next. Many have reported it to be wonderful!  I do not think they were talking about being out there, topless, like some of our friends, however!

Whatever plans you come up with, I know that you will find complete joy in it, as you have such a full zest for life - - - you and Lenore, both!  I admire your positive outlook on everything you do!

Best wishes for a lot more of life's pleasures in 2008!

Love,

Cyndee

Thank you, Cyndee and I admire you, also....You, too, are a positive person....Gotta keep the spirit up, despite it all....Finding pleasure in the little things...is the way to go....Our lives get too complex and we forget what is really important.....family, that special someone, friends and our loving pets...now that's important.....Being in the moment and living life...yes...with zest and gusto....that's the way to go...sharing and caring...loving each other....it's so very simple.....

Happy New Year Everyone!!!  Like Cyndee said....Best wishes for a lot more of life's pleasures in 2008!!!

Lenore

P.S.  And keep movin' Lisa...like...well...you already know...ha ha ha
